Northgate Information Solutions and NAHRO Support Maryland Food Bank
13 October 2014
BALTIMORE, MD – October 13, 2014 – Northgate Information Solutions, a leading provider of housing management information solutions to the public housing sector, announced today that they are the NAHRO 2014 National Conference and Exhibition volunteer activity sponsor, an event that will focus on supporting the Maryland Food Bank in their continuous mission to end hunger in the state of Maryland.
The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) 2014 Conference and Exhibition, which takes place October 16-18 at the Baltimore Convention Center, in Baltimore, MD, provides an opportunity for housing and community development policy-makers and practitioners to come together for informative sessions, continuing education, interaction with peers, and to see the latest technologies.
Northgate is a sponsor and an exhibitor at the NAHRO conference (Exhibit #1009) and will provide NAHRO conference attendees with canned food items to bring to the exhibit hall to be packed up and donated to the Maryland Food Bank. NAHRO conference attendees can register onsite to volunteer their time during the conference to help pack canned and non-perishable food items at the Maryland Food Bank Baltimore location for distribution to local shelters and pantries. The NAHRO conference volunteer activity will take place during the NAHRO conference program on Thursday, October 16, from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
“Nearly 204,000 people receive federal housing assistance in Maryland according to data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development,” said Saul N. Ramirez, Jr., chief executive officer of NAHRO. “Many of those same people need extra assistance providing food for themselves and their families. Helping families move toward self-sufficiency is best achieved when industry partners work together to address the whole person. By partnering with the Maryland Food Bank and Northgate Information Solutions, we are helping families come one step closer to becoming self-sufficient.”
“We are grateful to NAHRO and Northgate Information Solutions for selecting the Maryland Food Bank to host this year’s conference volunteer activity,” said Maggi Gaines, interim Vice President of Philanthropy for the Maryland Food Bank. “With one in seven Marylanders facing food insecurity, the NAHRO volunteer event combined with Northgate’s food donation will greatly support our continuous mission to end hunger in this state.”
Northgate works with providers around the world to maximize the value of their assets, fund more affordable housing or provide alternative options and deliver better services to their residents. Whether it is matching families to vacant properties faster, developing proactive strategies to cut rent arrears, building strong business cases for new homes or generating additional income to fund service improvements, Northgate’s customers are leading the way in delivering better housing and stronger communities.
“Housing services play a vital role in building better neighborhoods and providing specialized individual support, but it is just one of the basic needs,” said Bill McCully, Northgate’s US Sales Director. “Our solutions enable housing agencies to transform their business-critical operations to deliver more efficient and effective people-critical services. The NAHRO conference volunteer activity helps local needy families and aligns with our new corporate volunteering program that we have launched throughout the company, in which we will be supporting local charities that tackle homelessness.”
